QuickBooks Online Advanced...IS FINALLY HERE!
Big news for South Africa as QuickBooks finally release their flagship offering in the QBO range of products
QBO Advanced has all the features of the other packages but now extends the feature list in order to make QuickBooks Accounting able to meet more companies bookkeeping needs and offer more powerful solutions.
So what has it got? Here’s an initial rough guide to what is on offer:
Improved user permissions and controls - not perfect, but getting there! Now there is some ability to allocate permission to access particular transactions, eg: create an Invoices only role which excludes creating credit notes and all other functions
Custom Fields: at last you can create the fields you’ve been longing for: select a rep against a client or sales documents; add customer type field; or have particular fields print on your sales or purchase documents
Custom report builder: adding more power to draw customised data from your system
And here’s some other interesting add-ons: which really do say “advanced” to me:
- Deferred revenue recognition - where income from an invoice is not recognised as income upon invoicing but over time (warning: to be used with care and on sound tax advice)
- Automations and workflows: from approvals to auto emails and reminders or flags when certain events happen - I can see myself having a lot of fun with this - see pic below
- Backup and restore to a particular backup point: so good to provide safety when you do a major process in the books. It will also be invaluable for duplicating your books into a fresh company (think 2 companies with the same settings and setup).
And now for the bad news - only Advanced has 25 user capability. The Plus version that SA has been using for up to 25 users will be dialled back to the listed 5 users for that product. So if you are a big company then if for no other reason, you will need Advanced.
Also, for those (like me) that have been awaiting Advanced for the hoped-for Manufacturing capability: sadly it is not included and you will have to resort to a bolt-on app. Custom pricing-levels also remains unaddressed!

Oh and the cost: it is exactly double that of the Plus version.
